Genesis 23
Sarah dies. Abraham purchases a field with a cave to bury her. My Student Bible tells me that this is the first recorded business deal. I'm sorry to say that I don't have anything to say about this one. Anyone else?
Nothing insightful here, really. I just noticed how Abraham is treated well even though he is a stranger and an alien (v. 4). Later, God will require his people to be equally kind to strangers and aliens (c.f., Deut. 27:19), regardless of whether or not they are powerful (as the Hittites viewed Abraham).
