Genesis 4

(whew! cutting it close tonight!)

In verse 7, God says to Cain, " 'But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.' "

This continues on my reflections on shame and sin. God is saying that sin is stalking you WHEN you have already sinned. The Knowledge of Good and Evil causes us to be more vulnerable to slide down that slippery path once we have done wrong.

Beware. Fess up. Ask forgiveness.

  1. I just tried posting and something happened, so I'm trying again. If you get this twice, sorry.

So sin is only stalking you when you do bad? It seems like there is always the chance to sin even when you are doing right, which means sin is always stalking you. But you are more likely to sin if that is your habit.

  2. Obviously, not only when you do bad. The serpent was stalking Eve from the very beginning. But I think it is in our sinful nature to try to cover our wrong-doings and that makes us more susceptible to sin at that point.
